1833, a self taught watchmaker by the name of Antoine-LeCoultre founded his
workshop in Switzerland. He instantaneously became a
success, selling watches with only the best of the best mechanics. In 1844,
Antoine was the first person to measure the micron. He created watch components
that were so perfect葉here was no tool that could detect a single degree of
inaccuracy. This really set the standards high for LeCoultre as his business
meticulously began to pick up.
In 1903, a Parisian watchmaker named Edmond Jaeger set a challenge off to Swiss
watchmakers. He wanted them to produce the ultra thin calibres he had already
invented. Jacques-David LeCoultre, Antoine痴 grandson, rose up to the challenge
passionately. Unexpectedly, a very random friendship and close manufacturing
bond struck up between LeCoultre and Jaeger. Soon after, they talked about
forming a partnership. And, in 1937, Jaeger LeCoultre was born.
