making brands in the history of the watch making world. Founded in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania in 1892, the company right away began creating pocket watches that
were known as “the Watches of Railroad Accuracy”. These railroad watches were so
precise and reliable; they stopped an epidemic of accidents of the time, marking
the beginning of a long and successful journey of time keeping.
The US Armed Forces began to recognize the durability and reliability of
Hamilton watches, and began using them during battles. In the 1910s, Hamilton
became the main supplier of watches to the US Armed Forces, proving its
durability when a sergeant was killed by a brutal explosion, leaving only slight
remains and his Hamilton watch alive.
Style was never really a factor during the production of Hamilton watches, as
they thrived upon mechanics rather than looks. This changed in 1928, when
Hamilton became the leader in American style. The combination of accuracy,
durability, and style became Hamilton’s trademark and sent the company into an
international success. In 1957, a three year project led to the creation of an
extremely stylish watch called the Ventura. It was a brand new innovation, as it
was the first electric watch powered by batteries. In the 1980s, a new style was
born. Hamilton combined the styles of watches made in the 1920s until the 1960s
and created a very unique, trendy, and popular line of watches.
Hamilton watches are so unique in its
style that they were used in a lot of movies and worn by a lot of celebrities.
Movies such as Men in Black, Lethal Weapon 4, Fight Club, and You’ve Got Mail
only ever allowed their actors/actresses to wear Hamilton watches. Today,
Hamilton is one of the leading watchmakers in the world, with it’s proven
reputation for creating elegance and reliability.
