In the 1940s, a teacher at La Chaux-de-Fonds Watchmaking School in La Chaux-de-
Fonds,
Switzerland by the name of Georges Dubey made his very first watch all by
himself. Realizing that watch making his more satisfying than teaching, Dubey
retired as a teacher and began to pursue his career. However, he could not get
proper funding to begin his workshop, so he decided that going in on this alone
was not such a bright idea.
With this in mind, Dubey met another determined watchmaker. Her name was Rene
Schaldenbrand, and once they realized they had a very creative connection, they
partnered up. In 1946, the two watchmakers founded Dubey & Schaldenbrand
watches.
As quickly as they met and started their company, the team became a huge
success. Between 1950 and 1970, they were already producing over two thousand
different watches per year. They attracted a very vast audience, and once they
realized just how much their watches were in demand, they expanded world wide.
Today, Dubey & Schaldenbrand watches distribute over five thousand watches to
over thirty countries each year.
