Blancpain watches were founded
in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain, this watch
designer is, and started off as, the most respected watch brand in the world due
to its complicated machinery and high quality manufacturing. When Blancpain
created his company, he made a slogan that he principally stuck by during the
production of each watch:
“Since 1735, there has never been a quartz Blancpain watch. And there never
will be.”
At first, this was working out for Blancpain, but his success took a turn for
the worst when inexpensive quartz watches were brought over from China and Japan
in the 1970s. These quartz watches became very popular, causing Blancpain’s
company to become extinct.
However, in 1983, Jean-Claude Biver came in, took over the company, and revived
it with a new production motive—he would keep producing the classical mechanical
watches, but he would put a greater emphasis on the complicated product. Instead
of having workers work on an assembly line, he made it so that each worker would
make a watch from start to finish, creating all watches to be hand made. This
worked in Biver’s favor and he successfully brought the company back to life.
Nowadays, Blancpain watches are still
extremely popular and well-respected. They have a very defined look to them,
generally made for people who like classic styles. If you’re going to invest in
an expensive watch, many people recommend investing in a Blancpain watch. Its
